You can do almost anything in Alternative Venues Wales

Alternative Venues Wales is managed by the Reserve Forces' and Cadets' Association for Wales. We look after the interests of Reservists throughout the country and are a non-profit making organisation. The income we derive from letting Reservist Centres is re-invested into the Reserve Estate.

We are responsible for most of the Reservist Centres, including all of the Army Reserve Centres, most of which were purpose-built during the 20th Century with some very impressive buildings such as the Army Reserve Centre in Colwyn Bay and some, equally impressive, like Raglan Barracks in Newport and Maindy Barracks in Cardiff, built well over a hundred years ago. All the venues are well maintained and easily accessible. We also look after Cwrt-y-Gollen Cadet Training Centre near Crickhowell – opened a few years ago – which is ideal for adventurous team building activities and as a base for expeditions into the Brecon Beacons. Plus there are over 100 Cadet locations, some of which can be hired out for smaller meetings for local organisations including charities.

Conferences, meetings and lectures

Our venues can be used for a board meeting for 20, equally a large public gathering in a Drill Hall for 100 or more. Whatever your business or social need, we can provide well-equipped facilities in a variety of locations – and to suit a variety of budgets.

Training and sports

Our facilities very much lend themselves to supporting the delivery of training and a limited number of indoor sports.

Local meetings and playgroups

Many of our buildings are regularly used by local organisations/societies/playgroups.

Demonstrations

With inside and outside facilities, our venues provide the ideal premises for all types of equipment and procedural demonstrations.

Film Locations and rehearsals

Our venues can become whatever you require them to be - star of the screen or the backdrop – and they have very secure storage and parking for equipment. With their spacious halls they are also ideal for rehearsals.
